Occupational therapists work with our SCAD staff

We are fortunate enough to have two Belgium OT (Occupational Therapist) students completing 3 month internships at SCAD working with differently-abled students at the residential school and in the community. SCAD have built up an invaluable relationship with the KHBO University in Brugge, Belgium and have OT students come every year to SCAD. This ensures that there is sustainability in the OT support given to our staff.  The current two Belgium OT students, Lise & Phaedra, will provide support and training to the CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) staff on current practice and possible areas of improvement. Recent training on Friday 3rd February, held in the unfinished site of the ground breaking new centre for differently-abled children, explored topics such as; assisted daily living, working towards independence, Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, mental disability and physical disability.

Over the past 25 years SCAD have worked with over 800 differently–abled children in remote villages in Tamil Nadu. Through the extraordinary CBR team SCAD continues to reach the unreached, empowering differently–abled children and striving for a society where everyone is treated with equality, dignity and respect.
